About Me
Hey, Imani here! I am a lawyer by day and a blogger by night. I am 33 years old and am from up north. I was born in New York, call Pennsylvania home, and now reside in Georgia. Most of my family is in Pennsylvania and we are extremely close; my cousins are like the sisters I’ve never had. I am not married and I do not have any children, but I am a dog mom. My dog’s name is Cole and that’s my baby boy! ❤
I love to watch movies, drink wine, and listen to live music. My favorite color is purple, I love Mexican food, and I live for naps on Sundays after church. I call myself an introverted extrovert (I’m a Gemini so it depends on the mood I’m in). I love staying in reading, binging on Netflix, or trying something new in the kitchen, but I also love getting dressed up, putting on some high heels, and spending a night out doing something classy with my girls. I am also a tidsoptimist — I am hardly ever on time 🙄.
I don’t enjoy small talk or when it’s so hot that my glasses keep sliding down my nose. I hate pickles and dread driving in the rain. I don’t like clutter or disorganized spaces. I choose not to change who I am just to please someone, and I don’t allow people to disrespect my values. I also hate the fact that I stopped wearing my retainer in college, and will probably end up with Round 2 of braces.
A few of my extracurricular activities include: mentoring law students; leading the dance ministry at my church; finding fun ways to stay fit; volunteering with various local organizations such as Envision Athens and my oh so beloved sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, reading books for the public defender book club; and now keeping track of all of that in my lifestyle blog, Off the Record 💥.
I am an extremely goofy person who always tries to see the bright side of things. Positive vibes and meaningful connections mean the world to me. I have a healthy and loving tribe. I am very independent but also love calling on my family and friends for feedback and guidance. I am a great listener, love to help others and hate when someone is having a bad day. One of my mantras is: control what you can control.
I enjoy staying busy and keeping a daily to-do list. To avoid feeling overwhelmed, recently I have forced myself to think about what things really move me. One of my prayers has always been for God to show me my purpose. And ever since I decided to pay less attention to my matches on Tinder and more attention to what He is trying to tell me, I think I am finally figuring out what my purpose is! My life is nowhere near perfect, but everyone’s journey is unique, and it’s our job to stay true to ourselves. This blog is a way for me to share my truth with you 🌺.
