“Babygirl, You’re Beautiful!”
Do you ever look yourself in the mirror and remind yourself of how beautiful you are?!
I am not even going to lie, I might walk around with my head held high and a big smile on my face, but I struggle with worry and anxiety sometimes. I don’t like to be defined by any diagnosis (and I’ve never been formally diagnosed; this post isn’t about that), but I acknowledge that I experience feelings of worry and anxiety. I mean, who doesn’t?
Before any of my psychology readers start to question the use of the word “anxiety” by a non-medical professional like me, let me just go ahead and provide you with the Dictionary definition of the word: a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
Again, who doesn’t experience such feelings?! If that’s you, I’m going to share a few ideas on how you can reduce that anxiety and feel more confident in your day-to-day life.
Even though I’m not perfect and don’t live that perfect life, I try to spend a few moments each morning reminding myself how beautiful, capable, smart, and loved I am. I would strongly encourage you to do the same! It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant or theatrical, but when you hop out of the shower, just glance over at that mirror and speak out loud a few positive things about yourself. When you get into your car to commute to work, spend a few seconds applauding and congratulating yourself on who you are and how far you’ve come. When you see that post on social media that starts to set off that imposter syndrome, take a deep breath and know that you are exactly where you are supposed to be in life and that your journey is your own! No one can live your life like you can!
More people need to be more confident in who they are, what they bring to the table, and where they’re going in life. I even shared this in one of my Motivational Messages recently. I am sure we hear about that so often in different mediums, so how do we actually execute it all?! Well, in addition to those simple tasks of engaging in daily positive self-talk, you can also step out of the box and try seeking a professional. One example is Pure Hypnosis | Sean Wheeler. Another example can be a local therapist. A third example can be your pastor. But at the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter what other people tell us, or how other people validate who we are. What truly matters is what we tell ourselves, how we value ourselves, and how we validate who we are!
What causes some of us to worry or feel anxious? For me, it can be as simple as feeling overweight after a weekend of indulging in my favorite comfort foods and beverages. A great Monday Morning Workout should help me feel more confident throughout the week. You might be interested in trying hypnosis for weight loss near Atlanta or in your area. Another thing that makes me feel anxious is trying to figure out how I’m going to get everything on my to-do list done that week. I sometimes feel stretched so thin! A way I try to remedy that is accepting that everyone is afforded the same 24 hours in a day, and I have to choose wisely how I spend my time. It can definitely be easier said than done, but I know it’s not impossible!
The moral of the story is, fall back in love with yourself! Figure out the best way to love you unconditionally so that you can attack each day with as little worry and anxiety as possible! It is not going to happen overnight. But the key is to keep this new goal at the top of your list of priorities and it will become easier each day! You’ll reduce the anxiety you feel and will naturally feel more confident in who you are, what you look like, and what your purpose is!
Happy loving who you are!
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:6-7, NKJV.
